Kitae Kim is Commercial Senior Director at Umicore Battery Materials, specializing in lithium-ion battery cathode materials and testing solutions for electric vehicles. With over 15 years of experience across Umicore, A123 Systems, and Samsung R&D, he has led major projects in cathode design, synthesis, scale-up, and high-capacity solid-state battery development.

As a technical lead for key cell makers and OEMs, Kim develops customer and product roadmaps, aligning R&D with market needs to drive successful commercialization. He is also highly experienced in production part approval processes using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).

Kim holds a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Sogang University, completed postgraduate studies in Applied Crystallization at MIT, and earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Joined the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) in 2012 and has been conducting research on resource recovery (mineral beneficiation, smelting) ever since. Participated in numerous research projects on nickel recovery, and carried out joint research with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. Conducted reviews of technical reports for overseas nickel projects (HPAL process for nickel oxide ore). 

Dr. Sungrok Bang holds a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, with over 20 years of advanced battery expertise. He previously worked in Samsung’s battery R&D division before joining LG Energy Solution as Director & Research Fellow of Technology Strategy & Open Innovation.
Focused on next-gen cells, AI-powered R&D transformation, cross-border tech investment and IP licensing, he reviewed 650+ global technologies, validated 112 solutions, and delivered 14 joint development programs, 15 strategic investments and 7 IP licensing deals.
He established global innovation partnerships with KAIST, UC San Diego, MEET Germany and TIES China, coordinating overseas initiatives across the US, Japan, China, Germany and Israel. Boasting a wide cross-industry network, he provides C-suite executives strategic insights on technical risks, manufacturability, commercial value and IP layout.

Han Xu earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Jeonju University, Korea, in 2011, followed by a master’s degree in Power Electronics in 2013. He began his career in R&D at KACO New Energy, Signet Systems, and HEX Power Systems, working on photovoltaic inverters, V2G charging equipment, product certification, and large-scale test platforms. Since joining Sungrow in 2017, he has contributed to the establishment and development of the company’s Korean subsidiary, with long-term responsibilities spanning product strategy, technical sales, and large-scale project management. His project experience includes more than ten utility-scale PV projects in Korea and several multi-gigawatt-scale PV projects in the Middle East. In 2023, he was appointed APAC Technical Director and later became Head of Sungrow Japan. During this period, he advanced JET certification initiatives and contributed to energy storage solutions for Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonization Power Source Auction (LTDA). He currently focuses on technical strategy, product planning, and major projects in the Korean market.

Han Xu 은 2011년 전주대학교에서 전기전자공학 학사 학위를, 2013년에는 전력전자 전공 석사 학위를 취득하였다. 이후 KACO New Energy, Signet Systems 및 HEX Power Systems에서 태양광 인버터, V2G 충전 설비, 제품 인증 및 대용량 시험 플랫폼과 관련된 연구개발 업무를 수행하였다. 2017년 Sungrow에 합류한 이후 한국법인의 설립과 사업 기반 구축에 참여했으며, 제품 전략, 기술영업 및 대형 프로젝트 관리 업무를 담당해 왔다. 그동안 국내 10여 개 이상의 대규모 태양광 프로젝트와 중동 지역의 복수 GW급 초대형 태양광 프로젝트를 수행하였다. 2023년 APAC Technical Director로 선임된 후 같은 해 말 일본법인장으로 부임했으며, 일본 JET 인증 취득과 장기 탈탄소 전원 경매(LTDA) 사업을 위한 에너지저장장치 솔루션 수립에 참여하였다. 현재는 한국 시장의 기술 전략과 제품 기획, 주요 프로젝트의 기술 업무를 담당하고 있다.

Dr. Sang Ho Kim is currently a consultant at Chemsolve Co., Ltd. He earned his bachelor's and master’s degrees in chemistry from Seoul National University, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

He has extensive experience in the field of chemistry and R&D. His career includes a post-doctoral position at Hewlett-Packard Labs and a manager role at LG Chem Research Park. He also served as a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Kongju National University and gained corporate management experience as the CEO of SG Flexio while on the faculty. Currently, he is a consultant for INFOR, a Chinese bead mill company, where he is involved in bead mill and LFP material businesses in Korea. Dr. Kim has also published over 100 patents and 50 papers.

Yuji Tanamachi is a Japanese journalist who has been monitoring steel, non-ferrous metals, and rare metals since 1999. In 2011, he established IRuniverse 株式会社, and in 2014, he launched MIRU.com, Japan's first internet media platform related to resource recycling. He covers a wide range of topics from upstream to downstream in the resource industry. Recently, he has been particularly focused on deepening his insights into batteries, semiconductors, critical minerals, the circular economy, and decarbonization. For over 20 years, he has been tracking trends in raw materials related to stainless steel. He is determined to continue introducing the world to the shining technologies, companies, and people that still stand out.

Han Jeonghwan (Wihan) is a new energy sector analyst focusing on Korea’s battery industry value chain, covering upstream raw materials such as lithium and nickel, midstream battery materials including cathode materials, and downstream markets such as NEVs, ESS, and battery recycling.
Based in SMM’s Korea office, Wihan maintains close communication with Korean battery industry participants and tracks actual transaction trends, supply-demand dynamics, and company-level strategy changes. By connecting Korea market intelligence with China’s domestic price trends, supply chain developments, and demand structure, he provides practical market insights to support industry analysis and business decision-making.

Freya Lin is a Senior Analyst, Battery Recycling, at Shanghai Metals Market (SMM).
She specializes in the battery recycling value chain, covering the entire process from end-of-life battery dismantling and hydrometallurgical refining to second-life applications. Freya closely tracks the supply-demand dynamics and price trends of key battery materials, including lithium carbonate, nickel sulfate, and cobalt sulfate. With extensive experience in market intelligence, pricing analysis, supply-demand modeling, and profitability assessment, she provides strategic insights into battery recycling markets and the development of a circular economy for the new energy industry.
